I just thought i would share this piece of tanuki artwork I did recently... more behind cut!

"At Home"
It is a painting of my "tanuki self" in someplace I would feel "at home". I have never been to Japan in person but I really hope to see it someday and take a tour of the shrines and any remaining forests.
So... um.. enjoy.. ^^; thanks for looking at it.

I'm not sure if I introduced myself or not before but...
My name is Chibi and I have been interested in Japanese culture, folklore, and the shinto religion for about 7-8 years now. I do not practice shinto but I do collect some items related, and I do have a love for it. I feel a connection to the Raccoon Dog, or Tanuki; I believe in totem animals and to some extent therianthropy, thus the artwork above. Nice to be here :D

To my knowledge there are many natural landscapes still existent in Japan, whether on the main island or the others. They're quite beautiful, at least in their photographs and Nature books that I've seen... I didn't actually go to one of their national park-type forest preservation places, but yeah.

This is a beautiful piece, in that tanuki art is not something I see often, if ever. Thanks for sharing it.
